Logan Ober, a systems engineer for the Novato Unified School District and a resident of Petaluma, California, revealed earlier this year that he had expanded his U.S. elevator database, The Elevator Database, to include Massachusetts.

This expansion is part of a project that initially started in California, his home state.

Following this, he added Colorado, North Carolina, and Texas to the database. Hawaii, New Hampshire, Maryland, and Missouri are the next states on his list.

Ober, who has been passionate about elevators since childhood, began the project to create a public elevator database several years ago after discovering that California, unlike some other states, lacked such a resource.

To get started, he filed a public records request, spending around US$50 to receive a large amount of elevator data.

Using this information, he built an online database that allows users to search for elevators based on various criteria, including city, conveyance number, speed, capacity, machine type, installation date, and more.
